Craniotomy for brain tumour

This procedure, performed under general anesthesia, creates an opening through the skull for brain tumor removal. The surgery usually requires between two to five hours to complete. The length of surgery depends on the type and size of the tumor.






Craniotomy is a procedure where the bone flap is removed to reach the underlying tumour. Once the tumour is removed the bone is secured back with screws and plates to maintain normal contour. It can be performed to remove a variety of tumours like gliomas, meningiomas and neurocytomas.
